A friend of mine asked me to draw a picture for her to help her feel happy when she was down. She wanted it to include all the things that made her happy – cups of tea, tulips, candles, her puppy, her striped onesie and lavender nail polish.

I had the idea of her sitting meditating with her little pup in a tea cup.

It took a few sketches to get the sort of shape I wanted.

Once I had the sketch as I wanted, I completed it with watercolour.

I particularly liked how her puppy turned out.

My friend was happy too. It basically captured her in her happy place.

A friend of her’s asked me to paint a picture of her dog too. I hadn’t drawn many pups before, but I really enjoy it. There is something so serene about them that the watercolours just capture.
